No matter how severe your headache is, it will always interrupt your day. The next time you feel a headache coming on, try these tips to help reduce your pain.
1.Take a break from the screens.
Take your eyes off your phone, tv or computer screen every 30 minutes. Look out the window or take a walk to rest and refocus your eyes. This will reduce eye strain and can help hold off those headaches.
2. Check your posture
Looking down at a phone or laptop screen is a major cause of headaches. If you are working on a laptop, try to get a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and set the screen to eye level. When looking at your phone, hold the screen up to your face instead of looking down. It may look odd, but it will save your neck.
3. What should I do when a headache starts?
Take a 20 min break from what you are working on. Lie on your back with a hot pack rolled up under your neck and shut eyes. Focus on taking deep breaths and relaxing your neck and shoulders.
Pro tip:
Dehydration is a major cause of headaches. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. A good rule to follow is to drink half your body weight in oz every day. (If you weight 100 lbs, you need to drink 50 oz of water). And remember tea, coffee, and soda do not count towards your total water for the day.
